Caerphilly – On site
Salary: £24,500 rising to £30,000 after 12 months + Benefits

A well-established organisation in South Wales is offering an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Fire Risk Assessor to join its consultancy team. This is a fantastic role for an ambitious individual who is passionate about fire safety and keen to build a long-term career in the field.

You’ll follow a structured training and development pathway, combining formal courses with hands-on shadowing, to progress from trainee to a fully competent Fire Risk Assessor. With clear milestones and professional support, this role provides a strong foundation for a rewarding career in life safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake a structured training and development programme covering relevant fire safety legislation, regulations, and practical applications.

  • Shadow experienced Fire Risk Assessors on-site, drafting reflective journals and building knowledge through observation and supervised practice.

  • Gradually take responsibility for conducting low-risk fire risk assessments, progressing to more complex environments as competence develops.

  • Support colleagues by assisting with compartmentation surveys and other consultancy tasks.

  • Complete formal training courses and study modules to achieve required industry qualifications.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to ensuring compliance with fire safety standards.

About You

  • Strong interest in developing a career in Fire Risk Assessing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time management abilities.

  • Confident IT user, with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Proactive, willing to learn, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated individual—whether a recent graduate or someone seeking a career change—to gain hands-on experience, achieve industry-recognised qualifications, and grow into a fully qualified Fire Risk Assessor within a supportive and professional environment.
