Senior Business Analyst

Remote with occasional travel to Cardiff

Up to £80,000 per annum

CPS Group are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a high-performing digital transformation environment delivering impactful change across large-scale public sector and technology programmes.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced delivery environments and enjoys shaping digital solutions that improve services, processes, and user experiences.

Working within multidisciplinary delivery teams, you will play a key role in understanding business needs, defining requirements, and supporting the successful delivery of user-centred digital and technology solutions.

You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, technical teams, product leads, designers, and delivery teams to translate complex business challenges into clear, actionable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior stakeholders and business users to gather, analyse, and document business requirements
  • Translate business needs into clear functional and technical specifications
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and discovery sessions to identify priorities and opportunities
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, designers, and testers to shape solution design and delivery approaches
  • Support digital transformation and business change initiatives across complex programmes
  • Create and maintain high-quality artefacts including user stories, process maps, business cases, workflows, and acceptance criteria
  • Ensure requirements traceability and alignment with organisational objectives
  • Support testing activities including UAT coordination, validation, and defect resolution
  • Analyse systems, processes, and data flows to identify improvements and optimisation opportunities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share best practice across the wider business analysis community
  • Mentor and support junior Business Analysts where appropriate

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst, ideally within public sector or large enterprise environments
  • Strong technical understanding, including experience working alongside development and architecture teams
  • Experience delivering digital and IT solutions across varied technologies and platforms
  • Strong knowledge of Agile, iterative, and/or Waterfall delivery methodologies
  • Experience creating backlogs, user stories, customer journeys, and acceptance criteria
  • Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary delivery teams

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting digital transformation or large-scale IT change programmes
  • Knowledge of systems integration, APIs, data analysis, or data modelling
  • Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar collaboration platforms
  • Understanding of government or public sector frameworks and standards
  • Experience mentoring junior team members or contributing to BA best practice communities
