Job Description
NPI Engineer
Gloucestershire / Hybrid
£50,000–£60,000 + excellent benefits
CPS Group are working with a highly innovative technology business developing advanced edge-based hardware and software products used in mission-critical environments across global markets. Their products are deployed where reliability, performance and compliance genuinely matter.
As part of continued growth, they’re looking for an experienced NPI Engineer to bridge the gap between engineering, manufacturing and compliance — helping bring complex electronic products from development into production smoothly and successfully.
The Role
You’ll take the lead on new product introduction activities, ensuring products are production-ready, manufacturable and compliant for international markets. Working closely with engineering, supply chain, operations and external test partners, you’ll play a key role in delivering successful product launches.
The position would suit someone from a defence, electronics, telecoms, industrial technology or medical device background, particularly where products have operated within regulated or compliance-heavy environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead NPI activities from development through to manufacturing release
- Coordinate manufacturing readiness and production introduction activities
- Work with supply chain and sourcing partners on product qualification
- Manage engineering change processes and implementation into production
- Support products throughout the lifecycle, including manufacturing and service support
- Coordinate product testing, approvals and certification activities
- Work with external labs and certification partners across UK, EU and North American markets
- Maintain compliance documentation and certification records
- Identify risks, timelines and testing requirements across multiple projects
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve technical and production challenges
Ideal Experience
- Background in NPI, manufacturing engineering, production engineering or product industrialisation
- Experience introducing complex electronic or hardware-based products into manufacture
- Exposure to regulated industries such as defence, aerospace, telecoms, medical devices or similar
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, testing and product compliance
- Experience managing documentation, change control and quality processes
- Practical engineering mindset with strong problem-solving capability
- Confident working across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Able to operate independently and drive activity forward
Desirable Experience
- Experience with connected or network-enabled devices
- Exposure to cellular products or network approvals
- Understanding of international certification requirements
- Experience working with external manufacturing or test partners
